MY ADVENT REFLECTION 2014

This is the content of my advent reflection shared on Nov. 29,2014 at the ACD HS AVR
===========================================================

Good morning!  Maayong Pasko.

When I was to asked to share about my advent reflection I planned it all even the blouse I'll be wearing.
I guess It's not necessary that I mention maayong pasko because my blouse  already resembled the Christmas tree (stripes with green and red colors) with matching dangling earrings.. ( laugh)

But honestly,  I don't feel like its already Christmas...all of these are just a facade because I'm feeling weary and empty right now.
I think being given the task to share is a blessing in disguise because it gave me some time to reflect and discern the true meaning of advent in me.

I thank Fr. Patrick for being here because just like Santa Claus ( with his white beard) he brought me real gifts not material but enlightenment on the meaning of advent.

The feeling I'm having right now could be because I missed those Christmastimes that I spent with my parents , simple and happy  and the social conditions were different unlike right now.

You know I don't put any Christmas decors in the house anymore. Aside from the fact that ten (10) mos. ago , all the decors including my Christmas tree were damaged by the flood. And I don't feel like buying another one because I don't find it important.  However, I'm still thankful that we still have a house to live compared with those Yolanda victims in Leyte.

I also stopped cooking special dishes during Christmas eve because my kids don't even wake up at 12 midnight. Though I may whine about what to cook on Christmas eve, I'm still thankful because I can still choose what food to cook.. unlike other women who don't even have something to cook.

Sometimes, when we think of all the social conditions confronting the country, I ask where is Christ here?

You know very well I go out join rallies attend forum. Just like yesterday I attended the rally of workers in Bonifacio circle which demanded for higher salary. The demands of women in the One Billion Rising against violence.

I've been with the marginalized sector and seen their struggle. But I don't know if what I'm doing just sitting there is of help to them. Probably because what father said earlier, to be in solidarity is committing ourselves.

sometimes knowing all these social conditions is getting it's toll on me, It's becoming a burden and I know I don't intend to solve all of them.

Maybe just by being with them we can help in that aim for human development.

When we join rallies, be in the picket line with workers, dance for violence against women, attend forum for the land of the farmers, we are contributing to the attainment of that abundant life promised by Christ for humanity.

Just remember,
SEE, JUDGE and ACT.

The social conditions are already blocking our eyes, we as educators were already equipped so let us search for the truth and ACT!!
