Hi everyone! Its the end of the school year and its the time for graduation and recognition day. I am just so happy that I have shared my success story in 4th Moving-up Ceremony of the Sta.Ana National High School MWSP on April 7,2019 . So here are a few pictures and a full transcript of what I have shared in that event.

But
I tell you my dear completers; continue dreaming even if there is no assurance
that you can achieve all of them because the moment you dream something for yourselves
or for your families, it gives you reasons of your existence here on earth. If
you dream, you will have something to look forward to; you have something to
achieve.
That kind of belief gave me enough
courage, to apply and eventually get hired for a teaching position in the year
2000. Thereafter,
many opportunities came my way and I remained that kind of person that never gives up on something. There are
also similar success stories on facebook which has gone viral, of which is that
of a 64year-old lolo Generito, who makes a living as motorcycle driver and
yet managed to finish a Degree in
Secondary Education… He worked hard to achieve his dream of being a teacher. He
did this by being a tricycle driver by day and a college student at night. Though I am
happy to know that there is this story of Lolo Generito, inspiring us that it’s
never too late to aspire for our dreams, I tried to dig into the life of lolo Generito and you know what I found out in one news article? When
lolo Generito was a young man, hi parents got him into a refutable college but
because of barkada and bisyo he was
eventually dropped out from school. Majority
of the news reports would not highlight this but only focused on his
achievement. But in reality, people at one point in their lives failed/pumalpak but we were able to bounce back.. It is also a reality that people are driven by
circumstances that’s why we aimed for something better.
A lot of
other success stories are featured in FaceBook , there’s also this story
of the 80-year-old Lola Sally who
achieved her dream of finishing high school. Another one was that of a farmer's
daughter who graduated cum laude.. may story rin about a yung student na
nagbebenta ng banana que para may baon
at pamasahe ... ah mas nakaka inspire yata yung story ng isang batang disabled
na kahit hirap araw-araw sa pagpunta sa school ay nakapagtapos pa rin…
As we
listen to these success stories, you
could either choose to thoughtfully consider this or totally disregard them.. It is by no mere accident or coincidence that all of these
remarkable things have happened. It has been the result of our ambition to do
our personal best; to persist, persevere as individuals.
Continue learning because t he mind is the key to
success. Learn to use your mind to its optimal level, become the master of your mind or it shall
rule you. You must see yourself as who you want to become. So think thoughts of
success and go confidently in the direction of your dreams and know that you
have what it takes. Believe in yourself, you are capable of more than you know.

A pleasant morning to all.
“Thank you for this opportunity to be back here in my Alma Mater as a guest speaker.” It is an immense privilege and honor on my part to speak before you about my success story.
“Thank you for this opportunity to be back here in my Alma Mater as a guest speaker.” It is an immense privilege and honor on my part to speak before you about my success story.
Mr. Webster defined success as
referring to attainment of position, honors, wealth, goal and the like. Maybe
in a way, I am successful. Not in being wealthy or having high position, but
because I have found my passion, my mission and my calling in life-as a
teacher, a trainer and as feminist activist.
How did I get this far? What have I done to become successful?
My dear completers, in the life experiences I had, I found
out that there is no such thing as an ideal path. The blueprint for success is
personal and unique to each person. You’re the only one who can discover your
passions and talents by using your intuition and by being curious and
reflective. And when you add a few key role models to inspire your blueprint,
your path will lead not only to a good career but a good life.
So let me share with you the reflections I gathered about
success based on my unique life story.
DREAM. GROWTH MINDSET. DETERMINATION. These are the things I believe are the reasons of my success.
DREAM. , pangarap, pangandoy o mga dago sa kinabuhi.
May pangarap ba kayo?
I started
seriously thinking of my dream when I was already a 4th year High school . Back then kasi, di pa uso ang career day
unlike now that even elementary pupils alam na nila what they want to become.
I wrote in
my HS yearbook that I wanted to become a pediatrician. But Life indeed has it
twist and turns. I ended up becoming a teacher.
But
I tell you my dear completers; continue dreaming even if there is no assurance
that you can achieve all of them because the moment you dream something for yourselves
or for your families, it gives you reasons of your existence here on earth. If
you dream, you will have something to look forward to; you have something to
achieve.
A GROWTH MINDSET”.
Having a growth mindset means you
believe that your talents can be developed. When I accepted the fact that I cannot
be a doctor, I was already pondering that I can be somebody else, I’ve even
contemplated of becoming a radio announcer.
Giving up a dream, does not mean
surrendering. Since, I understand that my family cannot afford to send me to a
medical school due to financial constraint; I conditioned my mind take on
another course. Instead of complaining about our being poor, I would continually
repeat these words in my mind:
” It doesn’t matter what course I take; the
important thing is that I will be successful in whatever field I choose. My motto reminds me to be the best, most
courageous, person I can be in whatever circumstances. Gladly , I graduated in
1993 and passed the teacher’s board exam on the same year.
In another
situation, I have kept an open mind when I was into job hunting. With a limited vacancy for teaching job, I
grabbed the opportunity to apply for in a real estate firm owned by a distant
relative. Though office work is not something I was trained to do, but I took
the challenge. For three years, I did multiple tasks in the real estate office.
I took on the role of a loans officer, whose main role was to process client’s
application forms for housing with several government offices. The job also
entailed typing documents and other menial task like answering phone
calls/radio operator (roger, Oscar kilo ),
tracing blue print (sketch map ng subdivision) so para akong part-time
ME (murag engineer) and other clerical work.
The work was
quite demanding, but all my work experiences have greatly contributed to who I
am right now.
The 3rd INGREDIENT TO SUCCESS IS DETERMINATION
Life is not
always a bed of roses. More challenges lie ahead. So a person must be
determined in doing something despite difficulty. Some of you probably
experienced difficulties in life a bit earlier, others on a later stage. I had the
biggest blow in my life when my parents separated months before my graduation
in college and the second one when I lost my first job.
What kept me going despite all those?
I set my mind on my goal. "Setting goals is the first step
in turning the invisible into the visible." And again, I rehearse motivational
phrases: eto yung palagi kong iniisip when I lost my first job.
“I have to find a job. I am a
licensed teacher and I cannot remain as a housewife. I know I can be more than this.” .
As we
listen to these success stories, you
could either choose to thoughtfully consider this or totally disregard them.. It is by no mere accident or coincidence that all of these
remarkable things have happened. It has been the result of our ambition to do
our personal best; to persist, persevere as individuals.
My dear completers, always remember , that your present situation is not your final
destination!
Congratulations to the all of you of 2019! and once again a wonderful morning to all.
